Portland, OR -- Sammy, a purebred, unneutered male Samoyed, had a guardian who didn't believe in having him neutered, nor did he believe in taking very good care of Sammy. He was kept either at the end of a chain or allowed to run free to "take his chances" of getting hit on the nearby major highway. Adoption Report: August 2000..." Great news to report: Sammy got adopted!!!! And it's all thanks to your wonderful website! I drove him to meet his new mom a week ago in Roseburg, Oregon. She and I have remained in close contact through E-mail since then, and things are going extremely well. She has a 10-year-old Collie to keep him company and so far, so great! "I hardly know how to thank you enough for just being there. You are such a marvelous conduit." Vida Lohnes, vjlohnes@teleport.com |
| Chocolate Lab, "Rosie |
Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, NC -- Of the three Chocolate Labs surrendered to the local Shelter, Rosie, a 7-year-old female, was in the most needy position. Due only to her age, and not to any other lack of personality or health, she would be the most difficult to place. A beautiful dog with a delightful, outgoing manner and that certain mellowness that comes only with maturity, she got along just fine with everyone and always had a wag going. Adoption Report: July 2000 -- "Rosie (thanks to your website) was adopted about two weeks ago. Robin Keller in Raleigh adopted her, and loves her. She is the perfect dog for her. Robin is handicapped and needed a calmer lab, and Rosie is so sweet and protective of her; it is the perfect match." hemacd@interpath.com |

| Shorthaired Pointer Mix, "Petey" |
Peabody, MA -- Petey was taken to the local shelter to be put to sleep because a member of his family was stricken with lung cancer and the family felt they no longer had the resources to care for the dog. Petey, between 10 and 14 years old, is a German Shorthaired Pointer mix with a very pretty white face with beige markings. He has BIG brown eyes and is so sweet and gentle. This boy is so special that a volunteer came forward with an offer to provide help with vet bills to the loving person who would give Petey a loving home. Adoption Report: August 2000 -- "You are saints. Someone who visited your website has adopted Petey. Everyone who was touched by him through his ordeal fell in love, and his new family, THANKS TO YOU, love him. He turned out to be deaf to boot! He is living with two elderly companion dogs. He has a fenced-in acreof beautiful land to roam and a warm, loving house to snooze in. THANK YOU SO MUCH." mkates@ESPS.com |

Eastern Ohio -- An 11 -year-old male Chin, a beautiful boy who could have been a showdog in his youth, was in the guardianship of JCCARE -- Japanese Chin Care and Rescue Effort.
