Nevada -- Dogs Available for Adoption

Carson City, NV-based Dogtown Rescue always has several older dogs in residence. Here are just a few, with brief descriptions of their circumstances (from top left): Butch and Kelly are 16 year old siblings, owner had to move and could not take them (maybe they don't allow dogs in California?). Honey is 10-year-old Greyhound mix; family decided to let the shelter euthanize her rather than get her teeth fixed. Keeper's "mom" was supposed to move a year ago, but since we took him, she seems to have changed her plans-- but doesn't want him back. Chica (the Chihuahua, below) lives in her own little world, but she's happy there! Another refugee from Washoe Animal Services, Susie (bottom, left) has a mind of her own; she's been adopted and returned four times, so we figure she's "ours." We figure we'll wind up keeping all of these old guys, since nobody seems to want them. Once we get moved, we'll be starting up a retirement home for them and their buddies. Wish more people could look at it this way: these dogs are all going to go sometime, so why not make what time they have left the best it can be? Dog Town Canine Rescue, Carson City, NV. Name: Trooper
Mix/Breed: German Shepherd
Sex/Age/Weight: Male, 9 years, approx. 100 lbs.
Health:
Hypothyroid, up to date on shots, neutered, microchipped
History/Personality: Trooper was an owner turn in used as a stud dog for a breeding kennel. He became too old and ended up in rescue. Trooper is excellent with kids and other dogs (small to large). He has also had special training and understands both English and German. Trooper is housebroken and crate trained. He loves to go for walks, ride in the car, and play basketball. Trooper is smart and can figure out how to get the ball even when hidden or on top of something else. This is a really special dog and he deserves a home where his new family will love and care for him without asking for anything in return. Trooper will love you back with kisses and big paw prints on your shoulders. Please no kitties.

Other places to find a dog in Nevada:

Incline Village, NV -- Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation

Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation has a special place in our hearts for senior and disabled pets (although we prefer to call them "special"). At any given time, most of the animals available for adoption have been deemed "unadoptable" and were scheduled for euthanasia. With help from people like you, we have been able to place each and every animal that we have rescued into a loving home. Some of the animals on the Dog and Cat pages are considered senior, but to us they are just beginning. Please visit our Adoptable Animals pages to see the pets that we have available right now. And again, if you don't see what you are looking for please contact us - given a little time, we can find whatever it is that you are looking for. Telephone: (775) 833-2319. E-mail: Sam@tahoewarf.com
