Iowa -- Dogs Available for Adoption

Name: Bullseye
Mix/Breed: Jack Russell Terrier mix
Sex/Age: Male, 8 years
Health: Neutered, up to date on shots
History/Personality: Bullseye is a gem and would do best in a home that is quiet and would have time to be with him. He has been very well cared for his whole life and loved. He has one ear that is always up, wonderful markings, and hair as soft as rabbit fur! He will need a fenced in yard, no exceptions. He is neutered, utd on shots, and housebroke. He gets along with other dogs as long as they're not overly playful. He does NOT get along with cats. He loves everyone he meets, including children, and his whole back half wags with excitement when you walk in the door! He loves to play "chase me" with his toys and look out the window when you're not home. He is very sweet and gentle. He does have seasonal allergies, usually in the fall, which require a very inexpensive medication for a couple of months.

Name: Chassie
Mix/Breed: Toy Poodle
Sex/Age/Weight: Female, 9 years, 8 pounds
Health: Spayed, up to date on shots
History/Personality: Chassie will need a home with lots of TLC. She would love to have a lap to sit on with someone who is either home most of the time or who could take her to work with them. She is a big cuddle bug. She is paper trained, spayed, and utd on shots. She wants everyone who comes in the door to pet her and if you're petting another one of your dogs, she'll nose her way in to be pet herself! She is spunky and a joy to be fostering! Update: Chassie has been with us for 3 weeks and is doing very well on her housebreaking! She has not had any accidents in the house for a week and is pottying outside

Sex/Age/Weight: Female, 8-10 years, 25 lbs.
Health: Spayed. Up to date on shots. Some past health issues that require maintenance medication.
History/Personality: All we can say is Bridgit is a SWEETHEART! She is a black colored Cocker Spaniel with a sweet disposition. She is considered a senior dog, but that means she is well adjusted & well trained to be your best friend. Bridgit has recuperated from some illness in the past because of neglect, and is on medication. She is not injured or suffering but will need to have a home that will help keep her meds on schedule. Bridgit lives well with other cats & dogs She has been an indoor dog, but likes to spend time in the yard.

Name: Jeb
Mix/Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer
Sex/Age/Weight: Male, 8-10 years, 60 lbs.
Health: Neutered. Up to date on shots. For additional health information, contact the agency listed below.
History/Personality: Jeb is a family guy! Now all he needs is a family of his own! Jeb is around 8-10 years old, so he is through all the puppy stuff and is a mature gentleman. Jeb has a kind soul and he would do well in a home with children of any age (as long as the children have been taught to handle animals respectfully). Jeb walks well on a lead, seems to be fine with cats and has interacted well with most of the dogs at the shelter. He is a very laid back guy who would love to have a family/person of his own with whom he can demonstrate his complete devotion.

Cedar Rapids Last Hope Animal Rescue
We are your friends, neighbors, co-workers and family striving to save all the abandoned, abused, neglected and stray animals in Eastern Iowa. Millions of animals end up in shelters each year, only to get a week or less before they are euthanized. Our mission is to educate families on the importance of spaying and neutering pets so that we no longer have an overpopulation of unwanted animals. Please spay and neuter your pets to help reduce the pet over population problem.

Iowa City

Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center
"... a city-funded shelter where we try to place the animals who overflow the capacity of the Center with rescue organizations. The Center's Director, Misha Goodman, is wonderful, and the animals here are treated very well. They have medical treatment, grooming and many go to obedience school. The dogs are given two scenic walks a day along the Iowa River by loyal volunteers, indoor kennels with beds and toys, large outdoor kennels, too, on a daily basis, as well as play time with other dogs. Unfortunately, we reach capacity and are a low-kill facility, doing everything we can to place dogs into new homes and failing that, with rescue organizations. We have dogs of all breeds; many appear to be purebred and may appeal to people looking for a particular type of dog, and often many senior dogs looking for a loving friend. We have a great website that shows pictures, stats of each dog, and even some movies of them."
